Ibiza Travel Guide: San Antonio’s Sunset Strip
One of the top places to hit up in Europe for nightlife, a good time and to see one of the world’s most amazing sunset destinations has to be the Sunset Strip in the resort of San Antonio which lies on the island of Ibiza (Eivissa) west coast. For anyone who is visiting the island and into dance, trance and other similar music, it doesn’t matter if this is their first visit or tenth, it is a rite of passage that the Sunset Strip has to be done. It is a great way to start the evening by having a drink in one of the most famous bars here, watching the sunset before hitting the nightclubs in the town or elsewhere on the island. Who knows you may even capture a fire show on the beach down below! Here are my reasons to check out the famous strip.
The Sunsets from the Sunset Strip
Again, I found that some of the best sunsets I have ever come across have been here on the Sunset Strip. Watching out from the bars (or the beach down below) with a drink in hand, listening to the music from the DJ as they sync in the appropriate music as the sun goes down is a truly magical experience. It is a feeling I never experienced before, I can’t really sum it up in words but it is one which I take forever with me. Everyone else around here just gazes at the sun and are all quiet, taking in the emotions. What is also amazing during the sunset, it dips in between the small islands of Sa Conillera and Des Bosc and adds a small boat into the view, then this truly sums up Ibiza in one hit.
There are five bars on the famous Sunset Strip but I managed to check out three of them. There may be expensive price wise for drinks but because of who they are, what they are and the DJ’s playing there, it’s worth paying the price. Here are the three I recommend to any visitor.
Next door is the equally famous Cafe Mambo which opened its doors in the mid-90’s and has thrived ever since. A lot of DJ’s in the summer come here to do a warm up set before hitting the nightclub which makes this a bar to hit. What I also liked about the bar is that it is open most of the day and a great place to grab some snacks and a light drink before the evening kicks into play.
My favourite low-key chilled out place has to be Savannah which is also a great place to eat out. During the sunset time (and similar to Cafe Mambo), DJ’s come here to warm up and play excellent tunes throughout the night but once again, when the sun is setting, it is a truly amazing experience. There is plenty of cushioned seating on the terrace and the whiteness of the bar is more than inviting for visitors. The staff here are very welcoming and once again, a lot of memories were taken away with me from this night.
So there you have it guys, these are the top things to do (and eat/drink) whilst out on the Sunset Strip. I can guarantee you that there will be a lot of memories to bring back home.
